6.4.3 Raster Op Register
The raster operation register is used in identifying the final value for the
destination pixel. In many cases, it is some logical function such as
source pixel
xor destination pixel
that gives the final pixel value. By using the raster
operation register, the hardware can identify which operations will be write
operations, rather than performing the entire read/modify/write operation on the
pixel.
